WHAT IS THE MEANING OF PORT:

Mobile number portability (MNP) enables mobile telephone users to retain their mobile telephone numbers when changing from one mobile network carrier to another.

Simple Steps for mobile number porting to Airtel

  1. Send sms to 1900 in the format: PORT <mobile number>
  2. Receive your UPC code as an sms from 1901 with an expiry date
  3. Visit your nearest Airtel store
    • Self attested photograph
    • ID and Address proof documents with signature (Aadhaar Card, DL, Bank Statement etc for Address Proof)
    • Duly filled & signed Mobile Number portability form
    • Duly filled & signed Customer agreement form
    • Current mobile number, operator name and UPC code.
  4. Submit the duly filled Airtel mobile number portability form and customer agreement form
  5. Mention your current mobile number, operator name and UPC code
  6. Submit your ID, address proof & self attested photo
  7. For Post paid connection submit your last generated bill
  8. Buy a new Airtel MNP SIM card
  9. You will receive an sms from Airtel to your old number about date and time of initiating porting
  10. Adapt with non service period(12 midnight to 5 am)
  11. After non service period replace your existing SIM with Airtel SIM

  13. You can also submit your details for MNP on Airtel Website

 Note:

  • You can port between a prepaid and postpaid numbers as well.
  • You need to complete 90 days period from the date of activation of your mobile number with your current service provider.
  • According to Telecom Regulator Authority of India (TRAI) you can port your service provider to any city in India
